Ancient Mysteries Decoded
UGO is a term coined by Shahrokh Zadeh for Mysteryology to describe an unidentified object or anomalous phenomenon reported or recorded as appearing to enter, emerge from, or interact with the ground, mountains, volcanoes, rock formations, or other geological structures.
The term fills an important gap in UFO research. UFO/UAP generally describes phenomena observed in the air, while USO refers to unidentified objects associated with water. UGO provides a specific observational category for apparent interaction with the solid Earth.
Importantly, UGO does not claim that an object actually penetrated solid rock. It describes what was observed and leaves the explanation open. A UGO candidate may later be identified as a meteor, aircraft, satellite, camera artifact, perspective effect, volcanic material, or another conventional phenomenon. This makes the term useful not only for ufologists, but also for skeptical and scientific investigation.

The Popocatépetl Volcano (known as "El Popo") in Mexico is one of the world's most frequent locations for reported unidentified flying objects (UFOs) or unidentified anomalous phenomena (UAPs)
Reference location: 19.023° N, 98.622° W. The Smithsonian Global Volcanism Program identifies these as the coordinates of Popocatépetl.
On October 25, 2012 at 20:44:45 local time, a CENAPRED monitoring camera recorded a bright object apparently descending toward the crater. Because central Mexico was then on UTC−5, the event corresponds to October 26, 2012 at 01:44:45 UTC.
CENAPRED's investigation found no associated seismic disturbance and concluded that the object most likely passed behind the volcano, with a bright meteor or bolide considered the leading explanation.
Another event recorded at Tlamacas on June 1, 2023 at 01:15:27 local time — 07:15:27 UTC appears in a peer-reviewed Geofísica Internacional study cataloging meteor entries over Mexico, providing another important conventional control case.

UGO gives Mysteryology a clearly defined event category that can be compared using UTC, exact coordinates, Natural Solar Time, Earth–Sun–Moon geometry, geology, volcanic activity, atmospheric conditions, and DCF variables.
Its greatest value is scientific discipline:
UGO identifies the observation. Mysteryology investigates the relationships. The explanation must be earned by the evidence.
That makes UGO a useful and responsible contribution to modern ufology—one designed to encourage investigation rather than assumption.

UAP — Unidentified Anomalous Phenomena is the broad category for observations that cannot initially be identified or adequately explained.
Within that broader category, Mysteryology distinguishes different forms according to the environment in which the phenomenon is observed:
In Mysteryology, these terms describe where and how the phenomenon is observed—not what it ultimately is.
UAP is the umbrella. UFO, USO, and UGO describe different observed environments of the anomaly.

UGO cases help Mysteryology study relationships among time, location, Earth–Sun–Moon geometry, environmental conditions, and DCF.
